God made great and glorious promises to Abraham in the Old Testament. These promises were fulfilled in a limited measure when Israel became a numerous people and inherited the Promised Land. They however fell into sin repeatedly to which the Lord God responded by giving the law through Moses. The law would consistently reveal their sin to them. They could not be saved through the law though and neither did the law nullify the promises of God. Christ came into the world, fulfilling the law so that God’s people by faith in Him might receive the promises of God. The Lord God made a way for Himself to keep His promises to His people.
