It is interesting to note that every chapter of James cautions us against giving free reign to our tongues. We are to be careful, thoughtful and wise in the way we speak. In fact, the latter part of chapter 3 speaks of how wisdom is manifest in our actions, even our words.

]]> Abraham is a hero of the faith, but his journey was not without struggles in his faith. This sermon looks at several instances of his exemplary faith and encourages believers to persevere in their faith, much like Abraham did. On the other hand, we look at several occasions when he failed as a man of faith, which helps us understand that believers can have a crisis of faith. In all of this, the LORD continued to be faithful to Abraham, showing us how God’s grace and favour works for who do trust Him, even though they may have struggles along the way. Believers are declared righteous (in right standing) before God through their faith in Christ, and thus receive God’s ongoing favour.
