Partiality and Dead Faith

He is the Prince of Peace

This sermon is based on the angelic announcement to the Shepherds in Luke 2:8 – 20. The Lord Jesus was born in the time of the great Roman emperor Caesar Augustus. Christ was born in the most humble of circumstances, but His lineage was in the line of David, the great king of Israel, the one to whom the Messianic prophecy was made (2 Samuel 7). Christ’s birth was announced by a host of angels singing, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased.” God’s peace is on those who are justified according to God’s sovereign election and through their faith Christ (Romans 5:1).

Give & Go

This is the second message in this series on our Mission as a church. We are to Gather, to Grow, to Give, and to Go. This sermon looks at the second two aspects of the Mission – To Give and to Go. As members of the body we are to Give of our time, our resources, our energy, for sake of the gospel of Christ. The health and growth of the church is directly proportionate to the way we give. We also Go because that is intrinsically part of giving.

Bro. Sajan looks at it in this way. When the early church took seriously the commission to Go, they willingly Gave their time and resources. As they did that, they also increasingly Gathered together as believers. That gathering led to them growing. This sermon looks more specifically at the aspects of Giving and Going.

The Barley Harvest – Ruth’s Story

A sermon from the Old Testament book of Ruth. Naomi, Ruth and Boaz are the main characters in the story. Naomi had left Bethlehem with her husband and her two sons because of a famine in the land. They had moved to Moab where the sons married two Moabite women. During that time in Moab, Naomi’s husband and her two sons die, for reasons we are not told about. This leaves Naomi bitter. The story is about how Ruth’s godliness and faithfulness, along with Boaz’s righteousness, redeems Naomi and helps her see the goodness of God even through tragic and difficult circumstances. The Christian life is not an easy life to live in this world. Nevertheless, we trust in a sovereign and good God who does all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

The Triumphal Entry

On Palm Sunday, the Lord Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on the colt, the foal of a donkey. This was in fulfilment of Zechariah’s prophecy concerning the Messiah in Zechariah 9:9. The Messiah comes in peace on a humble donkey and not on a warhorse. Jesus came to bring peace to Jerusalem, but the city was not ready for Him. Are we ready to receive the Messiah, the Lord Jesus? This is the final sermon in this series on worship. Worship is not just what we do on a Sunday or at a Sunday service. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (ESV) We were created and are called to be worshippers every single day of ours lives, using whatever we do to bring glory and honour to God.
